Playa del Carmen Vacation Rentals for Winter 2026-2027: Where to Stay and When to Book
High season in the Riviera Maya runs from late November through Easter, and the best vacation rentals in Playa del Carmen are always the first to go. If you are planning a winter escape for 2026 or 2027, this short guide will help you choose the right area and book at the right time.
Why book a vacation rental instead of a hotel?
A well managed condo or villa gives you more space, a full kitchen, and a real neighborhood experience, usually at a better price per night than a comparable hotel room. With Playa Moments you also get something the big platforms cannot offer: a local team that has hosted guests in Playa del Carmen since 2008, with keys in hand and real people a WhatsApp message away.
Where to stay in Playa del Carmen
Downtown and 5th Avenue. Perfect if you want to walk everywhere: restaurants, nightlife, shops and the beach within a few blocks. Ideal for couples and groups of friends.
Coco Beach and the north end. Quieter streets, boutique buildings with rooftop pools, and easy access to the best stretch of beach in town. A favorite for longer stays.
Playacar. A gated, green community south of downtown with villas, golf and a resort feel, just minutes from the ferry to Cozumel. Great for families who want space and security.
When to book for winter 2026-2027
- Christmas and New Year: the most requested weeks of the year. Book 3 to 6 months ahead for the best selection.
- January to March: peak snowbird season. Monthly stays should be reserved by early fall.
- Easter week: books out fast with both international and Mexican travelers.
Flexible on dates? Late November and the first half of December offer high season weather at lower rates.
